Lace Half Cup Bra (+ Tutorial!)

Hi everybody! I’ve been missing for quite a long time, right? I’ve been working like crazy on my final project to get my patternmaking graduate, but now it’s finished at last! I’ll show you my final garments (a dress and a hand embroidered cape!), as soon as I get decent pictures of them 😉 But, for now, you’ll have to settle for… yes, another bra!

Embellishing your Handmade Bras (II): Ruffles

Hi guys! Today I bring you another post in the Embellishing series: this one is about adding ruffles to your bras and underwear (you can read the first part about echo stitching here!). Today I’ll show you how to draft and sew a ruffle to your bra, just like I did with my Ballerina Bra, and next time we’ll do a similar technique for adding flounces. You’ll be amazed at how this simple detail can completely change the look of a basic bra or a plain panty!

So, let’s dive in:

Embellishing your handmade bras (I): Echo Stitching

Hi everyone! I’m here again, and with a new post as I promised! We’re starting February now and Saint Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so many of us are using it as an excuse to sew (even more) new lingerie… right? Tell me that I’m not the only one! 😉

Some of us are trying new patterns, while others already have their favourites, the faithful ones that they make again and again. I’m usually in this group: I have a self-drafted bra pattern that fits me really well and I tend to make small modifications around it. I’ve used it for my Marie Antoinette bra, for the Ballerina bra and for my power bar bras. But, as much as you love the shape of your favourite pattern, you could do with a little more variety without compromising the fit or changing the style lines.

I’m Back!

Hello there! It’s been a little while since my last post, isn’t it? Well, I’m happy to tell you that I’m alive and ready to pick up this blog again! 😉

Maybe some of you wonder where I’ve been, so here’s the story: back in May I was offered an amazing opportunity for an internship as a patternmaker in a small design studio in Barcelona. It was supposed to last until the end of July, but it extended for all summer until my classes started… and then I had the possibility of working there til December, and I was having such a great time that I said yes! It didn’t occur to me that going to class for nearly 7 hours and then working about 4 hours more in the design studio could be juuust a bit exhausting… But when the time came and I was about to finish, I ended up working there for another month, until the end of January. Yes, I might be suffering a severe case of the Stockholm syndrome 😉

Birthday dress: Kielo by Named

This is a post that I meant to publish much earlier, but… well, you know, life happens! Let’s start saying that my birthday was on August 16th, and I wanted to sew something special for that day. I had about 3 meters of beautiful sheer black chiffon that I bought long ago with no real purpose in mind (ahem, fabric addiction? Nah…).  Now was the time to use it, but… which pattern could be good enough for it?

Shopping for Lingerie Supplies: The English Couture Company

Some weeks ago I received some sad news: my go-to store for bra-making supplies in Barcelona stopped carrying several things, like cut-and-sew foam, many types of elastic and almost all underwire sizes. Oh, THE drama!! There isn’t any other place for buying those things in Barcelona (at least, not that I know!) and I decided to order them online.
